Kasich & Taylor Meet With Local Businesspeople
by John F. Weber
On April 20, gubernatorial candidate John Kasich and his running mate Mary Taylor met with about 50 representatives of local businesses. They came to Wauseon Machine and Manufacturing Inc. to find solutions to the high unemployment rate and unfriendly business environment that currently exists in Ohio. Mr. Kasich told the crowd that "Mary and I are absolutely committed to improving this economic environment".
One participant described the problems that his business encountered with the current administration while they were trying to expand in our area. Several of their phone calls to Ohio officials were never returned. Their expansion took place in Indiana, where they found a much more helpful atmosphere. Some of the participants also encouraged the candidates to get our universities to be much more accessible to the needs of the business community.
Joining the crowd were several elected officials from our area. State Senator Steve Buehrer, and Fulton County Economic Developement Director Lisa Arend were members of the panel. Also attending were Bruce Goodwin, Paul Barnaby, Brett Kolb, Beverly Schlosser, and Danny Dymarkowski.
