ONE VOTE DOES COUNT!
The enormous power of just one single vote has often been demonstrated throughout history. The course of nations has been changed because one important vote was cast…or not cast.
You may think that one vote, cast among thousands of millions in a county, state or federal election, cannot possibly count.
But one vote may swing an entire precinct into a candidate’s column. And it is often at the precinct level where elections are won or lost.
ONE VOTE…decided that Americans would speak English rather than German.
ONE VOTE…made Texas part of the United States.
ONE VOTE…saved President Andrew Johnson from impeachment.
ONE VOTE…elected Ohioan Rutherford B. Hayes President, and the man in the Electoral College who cast that vote was an Indiana Congressman elected by one vote.
ONE VOTE…made Adolph Hitler head of the Nazi Party.
ONE VOTE…in 1962, Kingsley Taft was elected Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court by a margin of 91 votes. A shift of one vote in each of 46 counties would have reversed the result.
ONE VOTE…Governor James Rhodes was elected in 1974 by less than one vote per precinct.
ONE VOTE…per precinct caused President Ford to lose Ohio to Jimmy Carter in 1976.
ONE VOTE…in 1982, Republicans lost control of the Ohio Senate by less than one vote per precinct.
ONE VOTE…DOES IT COUNT?
